Technical analysis is used by traders and investors to identify patterns of market behaviour.
This course will review the basics of technical analysis and the practical challenges of using that
analysis to make money out of the markets on a consistent basis according to the individual trader’s
strengths and weaknesses. Trading based on multiple time-horizon classical bar charting is the initial
starting point, but all the main forms of technical trading will be covered.
The development of rigorous and disciplined decision-making will be practised in a wide variety of real
and theoretical trading situations. Self-evaluation by participants of their own psychology leading to
the discovery of a technical trading style that suits the individual trader, is a foundation of the
course.
Methodology
This practical training course combines presentations and exercises over three days. Course
exercises will encourage a selfcritical approach to the discovery and exploitation of trading
opportunities by developing discipline and rigour. Historical data from a wide variety of markets
will be used either for multiple time-horizon pattern recognition or to explore particular trading
scenarios from history by showing how they unfolded day by day.
Participants will find that as their decision-making under uncertainty improves so does their trading
performance over time. Towards the end of the course historical data will be replaced by real time
price data and participants will be encouraged to discuss and debate current trading possibilities in
major world markets.
